Scott Poland, Ed.D, NCSP  Scott Poland, Ed.D, NCSP, is the current President of the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP). He previously served as the Chairman of the NASP National Emergency Assistance Team (1996-99). He has personally led or served on crisis teams in the aftermath of ten school shootings, including leading national teams in Paducah, KY, Jonesboro, AR and in Santee and El Cajon, CA. The author of four books and numerous chapters and articles on school crisis and suicide, Scott's publications include Suicide Intervention in the Schools (Guilford Press, 1989) and Coping with Crisis: Lessons Learned (Sopris West, 2000). Scott is very committed to preventing tragic deaths of children and has testified before the US Congress twice and served on the President's Roundtable on Youth Violence. He also serves on the advisory boards of the National Organization for Victim Assistance and Mothers Against Violence in America and serves on the U.S. Departments of Education and Criminal Justice Task Force on School Violence and Victimization.
Dr. Poland is the Director of Psychological Services for Cypress-Fairbanks ISD in Houston, Texas, a district of 64,000 students. Under his leadership, this department has been named most outstanding in Texas three times and has received the Excellence in School Psychological Services Award, presented jointly by National Association of School Psychologists (NASP) and American Psychological Association (APA). Scott was selected Most Outstanding Psychologist in Texas twice, and in 1993 was a finalist for National School Psychologist of the Year. In 1999 he received both the NASP Presidential Award for Service and the Houston Wage Peace Award.
